When owning a vehicle, understanding the condition it’s in is crucial to properly maintain it. Being able to know when there is an issue can allow you to act on the problem before it’s able to worsen. One of the best ways to see the condition your engine is in is by checking the spark plug. Understanding your vehicle’s spark plug is beneficial to any vehicle owner because it can indicate when there’s a problem with your engine.
Upon inspecting the spark plug, take note of the condition it’s in. If the center electrode is noticeably worn, this can be an indicator that you have driven too long with this spark plug in place. To ensure your vehicle is properly maintained, it would be wise to purchase a new spark plug or to set up an appointment with a mechanic to have the spark plug replaced.
If you look at the spark plug and notice it is black, dry, and covered in soot, this can be an indicator of a fuel control problem. If you notice it’s only present on a singular side, this can be an indicator of a leak in the fuel pump. Talk to a mechanic about addressing the leak immediately to prevent further damage.
